Low Self Esteem? Are you suffering?
It is a lot more common than you think. Millions of people suffer of low self esteem in the United States and a lot more throughout the world. If affects people of all ages, male or female. But how do you know if you are suffering of low self esteems? What are the signs? What are symptoms? These are some of the questions are you should get the answers to in order to determine if you are in fact suffering of low self esteem.
First, what is self esteem? It is your acceptance, respect, satisfaction and confidence as a person. Your self esteem influences how you honor your own dignity as a person. How you treat yourself is the source of your Mental Health.
What are the symptoms of low self esteem? Blaming other, always complaining, always in denial, unable to express your feelings, you depend on others for Self-Acceptance and you Lack Personal Boundaries. Now, you only need one of these symptoms to be suffering of low self esteem.
People can find low self esteem in many forms. For some it is eating disorder, jealousy, self image through plastic surgery, body image through exercise, feel guilty about almost everything that goes wrong, you are afraid of most situation, ashamed, you have unrealistic expectation, do not trust others, you perceive yourself to have limited limitation. Most people who suffer of low self esteem will fall into 1 or more of these categories.
Here’s some tip to help you rebuild your self esteem. If you do something well, praise your achievement. Spend time with people that have a positive look on life that supports you. Stop putting yourself down. This may sound ridiculous but when someone compliments you, accept the compliment. Recognize your success, write it down. The smallest little things are a success for example making dinner, taking out the garbage, getting the grocery done. Do something you like, it can be a sport you like to play or attend, read a book, go out to dinner. You may want to start exercising. It could be to lose weight but it does not have to be. Exercising will automatically make you feel better. You also might to watch what you eat. If you have a tendency to eat fast food, candies or any type of food that are high in sugars, calories or fats, you probably never have energy and don’t feel like doing anything. Eat healthy and you will see the difference immediately in your level of energy. And last make a contribution, even if it is really small. It does not have to be money; it could be just your time.
Most common mistake people make is they ignore the symptoms, the signs that clearly show they are suffering of low self esteem. The first step is to accept the fact and then commit to do something about it. A few years ago, a survey was conducted and revealed that people with low self esteem are a lot less successful in both their personal and professional life. Someone with self esteem will have a happy long lasting relationship at home and he or she will be able to move up to better and bigger things at work.
