Low Self Esteem? Are you suffering?

Low Self Esteem? Are you suffering?

It is a lot more common than you think. Millions of people suffer of low self esteem in the United States and a lot more throughout the world. If affects people of all ages, male or female. But how do you know if you are suffering of low self esteems? What are the signs? What are symptoms? These are some of the questions are you should get the answers to in order to determine if you are in fact suffering of low self esteem.

First, what is self esteem? It is your acceptance, respect, satisfaction and confidence as a person. Your self esteem influences how you honor your own dignity as a person. How you treat yourself is the source of your Mental Health.

What are the symptoms of low self esteem? Blaming other, always complaining, always in denial, unable to express your feelings, you depend on others for Self-Acceptance and you Lack Personal Boundaries. Now, you only need one of these symptoms to be suffering of low self esteem.

People can find low self esteem in many forms. For some it is eating disorder, jealousy, self image through plastic surgery, body image through exercise, feel guilty about almost everything that goes wrong, you are afraid of most situation, ashamed, you have unrealistic expectation, do not trust others, you perceive yourself to have limited limitation. Most people who suffer of low self esteem will fall into 1 or more of these categories.

Here’s some tip to help you rebuild your self esteem. If you do something well, praise your achievement. Spend time with people that have a positive look on life that supports you. Stop putting yourself down. This may sound ridiculous but when someone compliments you, accept the compliment. Recognize your success, write it down. The smallest little things are a success for example making dinner, taking out the garbage, getting the grocery done. Do something you like, it can be a sport you like to play or attend, read a book, go out to dinner. You may want to start exercising. It could be to lose weight but it does not have to be. Exercising will automatically make you feel better. You also might to watch what you eat. If you have a tendency to eat fast food, candies or any type of food that are high in sugars, calories or fats, you probably never have energy and don’t feel like doing anything. Eat healthy and you will see the difference immediately in your level of energy. And last make a contribution, even if it is really small. It does not have to be money; it could be just your time.

Most common mistake people make is they ignore the symptoms, the signs that clearly show they are suffering of low self esteem. The first step is to accept the fact and then commit to do something about it. A few years ago, a survey was conducted and revealed that people with low self esteem are a lot less successful in both their personal and professional life. Someone with self esteem will have a happy long lasting relationship at home and he or she will be able to move up to better and bigger things at work.

So if you are suffering of low self esteem, stop feeling sorry for yourself and take the first step to a better life. You can read more about how to overcome your low self esteem, visit http://ezinearticles.com/?Overcoming-Low-Self-Esteem&id=2807419 or discover how you can overcome your low self esteem in just a few days by visiting http://www.squidoo.com/overcoming-low-self-esteem-tips

20 Ways to Overcome This Relationship Destroyer? Low Self?confidence

20 Ways to Overcome This Relationship Destroyer? Low Self?confidence

Is your confidence level where you’d like it to be?

Many relationship issues arise from a lack of confidence or low self-esteem. Low self-confidence can contribute to withdrawal, lack of intimacy and even infidelity in a relationship.

So, how can you increase your confidence? Well, self-confidence is not a commodity that can be plucked from a tree or pulled from a shelf. You see, having merit for ones self is all about self-love and that comes from within. So, in many ways achieving self confidence is a journey within.

However, there are things you can do on the surface that will help to get you on the right track. To get you moving in the right direction I’ve included the following “20 Ways to Increase your Confidence”…

1. Think about someone who is confident and act, talk and walk like him or her. Model their mannerisms and behavior. It works for them; it will work for you.

2. Smile a lot more. That doesn’t mean putting a silly grin on your face! But smile when you walk down the street, when you meet people and generally be happier even if you’re not feeling that way.

3. Learn from the past; don’t beat yourself up about it. It’s gone; it’s never coming back. Instead learn from it for next time.

4. Buy yourself some new clothes, get your hair done, and treat yourself to something new. It will make you feel better and will give your ego a boost.

5. Are you prepared for situations? Are you prepared enough to meet any challenge that may come up? Are you prepared for that meeting, that presentation, that job interview, when you meet someone for the first time? If not, get to it.

6. Play to your strengths. Know what you are good at and expose yourself to these opportunities at every opportunity – because you’re good at it, you’ll enjoy it and have more confidence.

7. Improve your weaknesses. Know and appreciate what these are and put a plan in place to improve them over time.

8. Learn how to say no to people. Don’t be afraid, you’ve got nothing to be afraid of. Just watch the reaction on their face after you’ve said it the first time and there will be no going back.

9. Be positive. Look on the “can do” side of things rather than the “can’t do”. You’ve accomplished lots in your life and you will accomplish lots more in the future.

10. Be in charge of your thoughts at all times. What is a thought? It’s just a question that you’ve asked yourself and the thought is you’re answer. If you’re thinking negative thoughts, you’re probably asking a negative question. Change the questions to be more positive.

11. Whenever you feel a negative thought coming, STOP, THINK, and say is this really important in the grand scheme of things. A lot of the time it isn’t. Many people in life major in minor things!

12. Do you let the words of others affect you? Do you mind what they think of you? Remember that no one can make you feel inferior without your consent. It’s not what they say to you that’s the problem it’s what you say to yourself after they have stopped talking that’s the problem. Change the way you think.

13. List the words that you use on a consistent basis when you feel let down or annoyed. People use different words to mean the same thing and depending upon the intensity of the word – this will have an effect on your confidence. Instead of saying “I’m enraged about this” say, “I’m a little annoyed”. Make a substitute list for the words that you use. Make sure they are lower in intensity and then use them. You’ll be surprised with the results.

14. At the end of each day list your achievements and successes throughout that day.

15. Be appreciative of what you have to be thankful for in your life right now. Who do you love? Who loves you? Who do you help out?

16. Every morning when you’re in the shower, play over in your head the events in the day as though they have already happened and they were a success. Visualize all of the meetings that you had, the people you talked to, the outcomes you had. Visualize success and confidence and it will be so.

17. Improve your body language. The way that you move your body has a massive impact on your confidence levels. Move your body assertively and walk with your head up, shoulders back and as though you’ve got somewhere very important to go. Feeling low in confidence? Change you body language.

18. Emotion is created by motion. As in 17, make sure you move around consistently. This creates energy and gets the blood pumping around you body – it makes you feel better and more confident.

19. Learn to brag about yourself. Yes, you heard me! Talk about your achievements and successes more than you currently are.

20. And finally – You only live once, so any time that you are down just ask yourself in 10 or 20 years time – will what I am worrying about really matter?

Do you need to find some way to get a boost in confidence?Keeping up your confidence can be demanding task in these times. It seems like everyone is depressed, nobody can find a job, and all the economic news is not good. However, this is exactly when we have to gather up our internal strength and find a way to get through it all.

Positive affirmations every morning by looking in the mirror and self-talk that we’re really okay isn’t going to have a lasting effect. The types of positive self-talk is only made on the surface of the conscious mind. It has to be sunk into your subconscious mind to have a lasting effect.

Studies have shown that the subconscious mind controls 90% of our thoughts and actions. You can make your subconscious mind either your enemy or your friend. No matter what you tell yourself that you’re going to do, if the subconscious doesn’t believe it, it’s not going to happen.

The subconscious mind has to be reconstructed and filled with positive beliefs and convictions before it is going to let anything good happen. This must be accomplished before any boost in confidence can occur.

In order to reprogram the subconscious mind, you have to have a certain degree of mind control and be able to meditate effectively. Brainwave activity must be brought down from the beta state of high activity to the more meditation ranges of alpha and theta. It is only in the alpha and theta ranges that the subconscious mind can be entered and the process of removing negative thoughts and perceptions can occur. It is only then that the negatives can be replaced with positives.

There are a lot of different meditation methods that must be learned to do effectively. They must be performed on a regular routine to get lasting results. However, technology has given us some help with the development of binaural beats mp3′s.

Binaural beats are specially designed recordings that use brainwave entrainment to coax the brainwaves into the meditation states of alpha and theta. The only thing you have to do is put on a set of stereo headphones, put yourself in a relaxed and quiet place, and let the binaural recordings do the rest.

Meditating with binaural beats mp3′s will open the door to the subconscious mind so that positive thoughts can be instilled and form a more solid and positive foundation. How To Improve Self Esteem For Successful Living

How To Improve Self Esteem For Successful Living

While many people have some idea of the importance of self esteem, many have no clue as to how to improve it. There are quite a few misconceptions out there that prevent people from actualizing better self esteem, and this article will point out certain ways that a person may be able to give their self esteem the much needed boost for successful living.

The thing about self esteem is that people tend to think of it as something that they either have or they don’t have. It is the “feel-good” sensation about themselves that encourages them to do certain things in life better, a sense of self-respect that really aids them to shed their fears and help them build the determination to live life to the fullest.

The truth is, practically anyone can achieve high self esteem. You don’t have to be an exuberant extrovert to pull this off. You can be a quiet introvert but still feel great about yourself and life in general. Mastering the art of self confidence can make your life worth living, and you will be able to see the improvements in your life by leaps and bounds.

A high self esteem allows you to not only feel better about yourself, but you will be able to relate to people around you a whole lot better. Your social interactions will be much more fun, and you will feel as though there is no one you cannot talk to, because you know you come across as an extremely confident, well-spoken person that it would be hard for anyone to resist your charm.

One of the common misconceptions about self esteem is that it is inherited. This is not always the case, as some parents have been documented to be very confident, while their children are not. It has a lot to do with the Nature Versus Nurture aspect of the human condition, and how a child is raised during the formative years of his or her childhood contributes greatly to how confident he or she becomes when in their adult years.

For individuals who suffer from low self esteem, there is the underlying desire to improve upon this aspect of their lives. But there are others who couldn’t care less what others think of them, and this apathetic view point can often escalate into something worse later in life. A low sense of self esteem can result in depression, and in extreme cases, suicide. Low self esteem makes a person hold themselves in such low regard that they feel worthless and unloved. Those who desire to improve tend to use this negative notion as their number one motivation to improve.

One of the most important elements of improving self esteem is to be true to one’s self. Another misconception about self esteem is that people tend to think that in order to feel better about themselves and achieve a high sense of self worth, they need to become someone that they are not. They feel as though they need to live someone else’s life, they need to emulate every single aspect of the confident person they admire.

Achieving a great sense of self esteem is about being comfortable in one’s own skin. If you can’t feel good about being yourself then you won’t ever feel good about yourself. It is being true to the person that you are, and confident that people love you for what you are. Never fake being someone that you are not, because once the illusion breaks, you are left broken even more than you may have started out.

Self Confidence, Self Esteem and Self Hypnosis

Self Confidence, Self Esteem and Self Hypnosis

Everyone one of us knows the important role that self confidence plays in our lives. Without a good measure of confidence in ourselves we would find it difficult to interact in social, business or even personal situations. Every one of us has some degree of confidence in ourselves whether we realize it or not. Without confidence you would not survive in the world! For example you must have enough faith that you can clothe, feed and shelter yourself. However how many of us take a good look at the state of our self esteem? If you take the time to increase your self esteem you will find that your self confidence increases naturally. Build a solid strong self-image, with high self-esteem and you will feel invincible!

Increasing your self-esteem and rebuilding your self image to reflect the person you want to be and the type of person who is already living the life you desire will lead to more happiness, success and confidence. So what is self-esteem and how can you develop your own?

Well, self-esteem is simply a word that is used to describe how you feel about yourself. It represents your own self worth and reflects your internal beliefs about yourself and your place in the world.

Your self-esteem is the bedrock of your self-image and it is your self-image that you use, unconsciously, as a guide to your own abilities – what you think you can and cannot achieve. Your self-image is also the blue-print from which you build your life. If you have a negative or unrealistically negative image of yourself and your abilities then your life will never work the way you wish it to regardless of how hard you try to change it!

As your self image is how you see yourself then this determines how you think, act and react to the world around you. It influences your behaviour and thus it is directly responsible for the results you get in life. Having low self-esteem usually leads to a victim type self-image where you feel like it is impossible for you to succeed.

If you have high self-esteem your self-image will be very positive and you will feel like you can handle any problem and overcome any obstacle. You feel like you will succeed no matter what life throws at you. Optimism will be a natural automatic by-product.

When you have a strong sense of self worth and high self-esteem you tend to know where you are going in life. It is a fact that men and women who have high self-esteem know what they want from life. They are generally much more goal-orientated than others. These people exude confidence and optimism because they believe that no matter what obstacles they encounter they will reach their goal if they keep going and don’t give-up!

Having high self-esteem allows you to think clearly and avoid emotional thinking and this leads to the gaining the skill of persistence. It allows you to act in circumstances from a clear mental view point instead of reacting. This gives you much more power in any circumstance because you can think clearly and make decisions based on solid evidence and clear rationalization with the belief that you can find a way to effectively deal with the situation at hand. People with low self-esteem usually just give-up when faced with challenges because they believe they cannot meet them.

People with high self-esteem are more centered in the moment. Their thoughts are not in the past or focused on the distant future. By feeling secure, safe and loving they keep their focus in the present and thus enjoy their experiences much more. Those with low-self-esteem find it hard to enjoy what they are doing because their thoughts dwell on the past, future potential failures and the worry of how other people perceive them. Having a solid belief in yourself and your abilities also gives you the opportunity to look at your weaknesses and improve yourself because you are able to see these as challenges to overcome rather than as a criticisms or affirmations of your faults.

In order to achieve high self-esteem you must first be willing to accept yourself as you are. Stop judging yourself and especially stop judging the past. The key is to live in the moment.

Take inventory of your strengths. Congratulate yourself on your abilities and the skills you have developed on your journey through life. Accept that you have made mistakes, everyone makes them. Accept that you have learned valuable lessons from things that you believe you have done wrong. Every action you have ever taken has helped to develop the person you are today and the knowledge you gained from each experience will help to create the person you intend to be tomorrow. Every experience you have is moving you towards your desires!

Recall your success and dwell on them for a moment internally. There is no need to be egotistical about this. Just congratulate yourself on a job well done and know that you can replicate these successes again and again! Also think about what you want to gain in life. Set yourself some goals. If it seems like they are too far out of reach then set smaller goals first that will lead you closer to your ultimate desires.

Having doubts about your ability to achieve your goals can be used to your advantage. Write down, in a point by point list, all the reason you believe you cannot achieve your goals. Then take each one and develop a plan to overcome each obstacle. An example would be if you wanted a better paying job and set a goal to change your career yet you think that you do not have the necessary experience or qualifications to achieve this. In order to overcome these negative beliefs you must create a plan to gain the experience and/or qualifications you feel you need. Perhaps setting a goal to return to night school or volunteer to gain more experience would address these issues. In such a case you would take inventory of your current circumstances and determine how best you could gain what you needed.

Another essential skill you need to develop is the use of positive self-talk. Watch how you speak to yourself internally and how you speak about yourself to others. Both are forms of affirmations which are really commands you are giving to your subconscious mind. You must reprogram your mind for success. Write your goal down, in the present tense, as though you were telling someone else exactly how your life is now. Read the statement every morning and every night. Try self-hypnosis as a form of positive mental brain-washing. Use it to program your subconscious mind for success.

In this way you will increase your belief in yourself, your abilities and your future and your self-esteem will sky-rocket!

How to Gain Confidence- a Dialogue

How to Gain Confidence- a Dialogue

Let us look at a discussion about confidence. A – How do we gain confidence? Any clues? B- Good question because I also need confidence. In my opinion, we gain confidence by taking the chance and by surviving the outcome irrespective of the results. But that could work either way.

C interrupts B and says- I think you are right, B that some of our confidence comes from accomplishing things and recognizing that accomplishment for ourselves. Those who don’t try, and who only want things done for them because they “can’t,” don’t gain this kind of confidence.

I wonder… you say sometimes it has worked for you and sometimes it hasn’t… could the difference be in how well you recognize what you have accomplished? Take for instance, trying to quit smoking… do you see how much you have accomplished, or only see how you feel you’ve fallen short? Because i see the progress you have made… even if you are smoking as much… because you tried. And that shows you are orienting your mind and your lifestyle to become a non-smoker.

You have reminded me that I need to work on recognizing my accomplishments, too. In this area, I more often see the glass as half empty instead of half full! That is how C looked at the question of confidence. Let us see how the dialogue develops. Now it is the turn of B. As far as smoking is concerned, I’ve failed to achieve what I set out to do. So I feel that i am a failure. Why my weak side takes control over me, rather than my determination? What is the way to fight weakness? If I conquer that I will gain confidence that I can take control. Right now I am not sure. Does anyone have an insight?
