The Hypnotized Brain – Self Esteem and Negative Thinking

The Hypnotized Brain – Self Esteem and Negative Thinking

Are you dogged by negative thinking and negative emotions throughout your day? Does negativity stop you from moving forward in your life? Everyone of us carry around negative beliefs and harmful emotions, usually based in past negative experiences. Would you like to break free and start to live life more on your terms today? If so, read on!

If you are a person who finds it hard to get through the day without experiencing negative thoughts and emotions that cripple your ability to interact and make sound clear decisions then you know how harmful allowing these negatives to remain can be.

It is proable though that you are just an average person who is neither very positive nor very negative. You are most likely to be the type of person who feels neither good nor bad most of the time yet can get bogged down in negativity as the world and circumstances push against you.

The purpose of this article is to show you that you can eliminate these negative from your life and free your mind so that you can enjoy every moment and make decisions that are beneficial to your chosen life path without the hindrance of negative emotions and thoughts which usually guide you.

Most of us have come to the belief that we have no control over our thinking and that negative thoughts are just part and parcel of life. However, this could not be further from the truth.

Your brain is just like a computer. It needs software to run it and the software that it uses comes in the form of beliefs. Beliefs are just a collection of thoughts grouped together to form a picture of yourself and the world.

There are programs which are hot-wired in your brain designed to keep you safe like your fear of sudden bangs for example., however most of the programming that you have was amassed over your lifetime. There are many programs that your mind runs which are beneficial to you and keep you safe – you will automatically pull your hand away when it is placed near fire for instance. However, many of these programs are extremely negative and to the detriment of your success and happiness. You may have a mental program that stops you from trying different things. Perhaps you gained this program when you were younger and you were around very negative people who belittled you efforts and therefore you found it easier to not try. This program would have served you well while you were young and in that environment. However, as an adult such a program would severely limit your ability to move on in life and enjoy new experiences.

Learning to remove the negative programming in your mind and brain will pay huge rewards for you in life and free you to enjoy each moment without nagging internal criticisms and worries.

The main reason behind negative thoughts lies in your self-esteem. Low self-esteem and a lack of self-worth lead to self doubt and fear. The key to removing all negativity from your life lies in your ability to love yourself and others unconditionally. Learning to improve your self-esteem is the one skill that you need to create success in any and all areas of your life. Disapproving of yourself and withholding self-approval is the main reason behind all your failure.

When you experience self doubt or fear you can always trace the reason back to a lack of self-worth. Re-read the last sentence then give it some real thought. Can you not see how true it is!

If you analyse all your negative thoughts and trace them back to their roots you will find that they lie in a belief that you are not good enough or unworthy in some way. By tacking the problem of negative thinking and negative emotions at their root ‘ low self-esteem ‘ you can lessen their effect at worst and totally eliminate them at best.

Begin today to forgive yourself for past mistakes and let-go of any regrets you may have. View your past as a path to the person you are today. In this way you can begin to become not only tolerant of your past but eventually you will become thankful for it. If you make a mistake in your life be gentle with yourself. Remove the habit of berating yourself. The world is filled with people who will do that for you, why should you be one them?

Practise forgiving yourself. Practise giving yourself approval ‘ it’s just a decision. Decide now that you will no longer tolerate internal criticism. It is you that has your mind and it is you that thinks your thoughts. No-one else does it for you so therefore you have complete control over your mind and your thinking! Exercise that control today.

Recall all the wonderful things that you have done in life and congratulate yourself for the progress you have made. Many people don’t make it as far as you have. Seek out tools to help you reprogram your mind for high self-esteem. Try hypnosis. You have been hypnotized into believing that you are unworthy of success and happiness so re-hypnotize yourself with the opposite.

When you increase your self-esteem you will find that you feel more worthy of the life you desire and you begin to see people change towards you as you project a more self-confident, self-assured and worthy person. You will also find your life begins to improve in ways you would not have thought possible. Try it, you may just be surprised!

Brain Beating Confidence and Self Esteem Tips #1

Brain Beating Confidence and Self Esteem Tips #1

These ‘Brain Beating Confidence and Self Esteem Tips’ set out to help you discover how your internal self programming works and what affects it. This then allows you to set the program so that whatever it is you want to achieve becomes more of a probability and less of a dream. Every action starts with a thought. Let’s see what you are thinking.

Tip One : Record your thoughts (No – not ALL of them)

First, acknowledge that there is a little voice inside your head that controls everything that you say or do and therefore everything that you achieve. It’s this little voice we need to control. Before we start to make changes let’s listen to what it’s saying first, then we’ll know what we need to change, if anything.

Listening to what your inner voice is telling you is a lot easier said than done. You’ll find that as soon as you concentrate on what instructions are coming to you, the dialogue will straight away change to whatever you want to hear. It’s O.K. I’m on the right path you then think.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Try this exercise and see if it your results change.
You will need a pen, a notebook and a timer. You will need to do this exercise many times and compare the results over a period of time so use a notebook dedicated solely for this exercise. Most of us now have a mobile phone. You could use the countdown timer in that, or a kitchen timer, or even an alarm clock.

Set the time to go off in at least half an hour from now. An hour or more would be better. Far enough into the future so that you have forgotten about it by the time it goes off. As soon as it goes off try to write down exactly what you were thinking about as it erupted. This may take some practice as the alarm may startle you and ruin your thoughts. Vibration alarms on phones are best to prevent this happening.

What this does is to enable you to record what you were thinking without you concentrating on a definite idea you thought you should be thinking about. Try doing this exercise only two or three times a day.  Vary the times of day so that you will be doing different activities. Over a period of a week or so you will get a reasonable idea of what you are regularly thinking about.

Now, here’s the key, are your thoughts mostly positive or negative? Are they about what you are doing, what you were doing or what you’d like to do? Most crucially, are they in line for you to achieve what you want to achieve in life?

For the record, when my alarm went off I often used to be thinking about what I was reading or doing at the present time. Unfortunately, as soon as the alarm went off I immediately started thinking about what I SHOULD be doing. This means I was often NOT doing what I needed to do to follow my dream. Do your results show you are following your dream?

Later in this Brain Beating Tips series I’ll tell you what causes your thoughts and what you can do to change. Meanwhile, have you looked at how you can start to make changes in yourself?

Is it Possible to Retrain Your Brain and Improve Self Confidence?

Is it Possible to Retrain Your Brain and Improve Self Confidence?

There are lots of techniques and products that claim to be able to retrain your brain and improve self-confidence. But is there any clear evidence that it is possible to affect your subconscious and fundamentally change the way you feel about yourself?

I’ve been a personal development coach for pretty long time now, so I’ve obviously come into contact with many people desiring to make changes in their life. And one of the most common and fundamental changes a person can make is to improve their self-confidence.

One technique that claims to be able to improve self-confidence is affirmations. Affirmations are probably the easiest of all personal development techniques to employ. They simply require you to repeat — or affirm — positive statements to yourself. Research has shown that when used on a daily basis, affirmations can have some effect on self-confidence. However, this technique can take a very long time to show results, and in many cases, those results can be minimal.

Another technique to retrain your brain for increased self-confidence is to use self hypnosis. Hypnosis bypasses the critical conscious mind, to present commands or “suggestions” to the subconscious mind. Research on hypnosis suggests that approximately 55 to 60% of all individuals can be hypnotized, so while this technique can be useful to many people, it is by no means a fool-proof solution.

Self hypnosis in particular is difficult to assess as a meaningful way to improve self-confidence. Again, research suggest that self hypnosis can be useful for a wide range of issues, including calming fears and anxieties, and building greater self-esteem and confidence, though again, not everyone is likely to benefit from this technique.

Still another method of “mental reprogramming” is the use of subliminal suggestions. While there is much controversy about the effectiveness of subliminal commands and suggestions, several recent studies indicate that subliminal messages are both registered and understood by the subconscious mind.

The University of Bethlehem in Israel recently conducted subliminal research wherein participants were randomly shown subliminal images of either the Israeli or Palestine flag. The results of this research clearly indicate that subjects who had been exposed to the subliminal flag images altered their political points of view depending on which flag was used.

Follow-up research suggested that being shown the subliminal flag image could even cause the participants to change their voting behavior in the Israeli general election. This and other similar studies suggest that, not only are subliminal suggestions and symbols clearly understood, but they also have the power to change both attitude and behavior. While more research is necessary, the current studies suggest there is the potential to “retrain” states of mind and behavior through the use of subliminal suggestions and symbology.

Finally, one increasingly popular method to improve confidence is to use a “Gestalt” approach, which incorporates all of the above techniques and more in an attempt to “overwhelm” the subconscious mind with a deluge of new information. While there is little formal research on the effectiveness of this “all-inclusive” method of retraining the human brain, anecdotal evidence suggests that this may likely be the best approach.

The “Gestalt” method of overwhelming the subconscious mind is actually quite similar to brainwashing. The only difference being that the individual is in control of the process, and is basically attempting to brainwash themselves.

Overall, there isn’t enough empirical evidence to say with certainty how effective any of these methods may be to improve self confidence, though it stands to reason that using a multi-faceted approach to “retrain your brain” is likely to produce the best results.
